Launch of the Agroecology Training Course – Schedule and Participation Procedures

The Sicilian Agroecology Coordination (the body that promoted and drafted Regional Law 21 of July 29, 2021, on agroecology in the Sicilian Region) announces the launch of the Agroecology* training course, aimed at agricultural and environmental professionals interested in learning more about innovative and sustainable approaches to managing production systems.

Course Objectives and Structure
The training course, lasting a total of 50 hours, will take place from April to June 2026 and will be delivered in a blended format, combining distance learning (FAD) and in-person meetings.
The initiative aims to provide theoretical and operational tools for the agroecological transition, in accordance with current legislation and Regional Law 21/2021 of the Sicilian Region.

Curriculum
The course will address the main topics of agroecology, including:
principles and foundations of agroecology;
climate change and territorial data analysis;
soil fertility and the role of the microbiome;
Biodiversity and agroecosystem management;
sector regulations and European policies (CAP, Farm to Fork, Biodiversity Strategy 2030);
agroecological planning and business design;
application practices and field activities.

The course aims to create and continuously update a roster of qualified professionals, including suitable candidates, to support the agroecological transition of Sicilian and Mediterranean businesses. Those who qualify for the course will also have free access to the Mediterranean Agroecology Network (AEMED), through which they can benefit from new professional opportunities in the sector.

Activity Schedule
Training activities will be structured as follows:
– April 18, 2026 – Start of the in-person course in Caltanissetta;
– April – June 2026 – Online lessons (FAD);
– June 2026 – Practical activities on farms in eastern and western Sicily.

Participation Procedures
Participation in the course is subject to a donation to support the activities of the Sicilian Agroecology Coordination.
The donation provides access to all training, outreach, and in-depth activities scheduled until June 2026.
To register, you must:
– complete and sign the donation form;
– Make the payment via bank transfer;
– Send the completed form and payment receipt to the organizing secretariat.

Deadlines
April 12, 2026 – deadline for reduced donations (€250.00);
April 17, 2026 – deadline for regular donations (€300.00).

You can attend the course’s opening day (April 18, in person at Hotel Ventura – SS640, 93100 Caltanissetta – Google Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qrNjeaQThhYnKsMr9) as an auditor (attributing the relevant CFPs) , without full registration, with a contribution of €20.00 to cover organizational expenses. Payment must be made no later than April 16th to IBAN: IT59R0501804600000020000054, of the Coordinamento Agroecologia Sicilia – Organizzazione di Volontariato, with the reason for payment: “Donation for the April 18th event.” Confirmation must be sent by email to coord.agroecologia@libero.it.
